Christianity At Its Core: Jesus is God

It's not about self-help, it's not about human's inherent weakness in our search for 'higher existence', and it's definitely not about human psyche trying to find a substitute 'release' of our worldly anxiety. Christianity isn't related to who we are or what we do. Christianity surpasses cultural shift and social eras. It's not a mere 'modern european trend' or 'rebellious youth trend'.

It's about defining God and who He is. I'd love to influence people to see Christianity in a perspective of school subject, not Christianity as a religion. The biggest difference between school subject and religion is, I think, when you're talking to people about academic subjects, everything will be treated as factual knowledge instead preferential truth. Similar to scientific experiments, there'll be challenges to the present truth and in the case when new hypotheses/discovery arises, there are scientific measures to test the present truth and see whether the truth prevails over challenges.

Somehow there are just too many people who get all sensitive when it comes to religious talks. Does choosing a religion as our personal belief mean other's personal faith is inferior? It seems that some people take things too personally and there's a lot of personal pride attached to the subject of the conversation, ie. personal belief of who God is.

I don't know how other religion explains their Gods, but in Christianity, God is defined as the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If you believe Jesus is the Son of God, came down on earth to save mankind by acting as a blameless substitute for the curse of our sin, then that is Christian's truth.  Furthermore, Christians also believe that our truth is the truth. Why?

First, the truth that has been circulating for over than 2 centuries without change must be a truth. Mankind believed the world is flat and that the universe revolved around our earth until Galileo challenged those truth and proved them wrong. Cavemen believed fire comes from the gods and time proves that fire is easily created through frictions. Some modern-age Christians believed that the science of human-marking would mark the day of Jesus' second coming, and guess what, the technology has been circulating for over than a decade and has been widely used for scientific breakthrough, specially to help tracking medical records of chronically ill patients or prison inmates.

To put it simply, in science, truth is assumed as truth unless proven wrong. Does that make sense?

God is Good

Matthew 6:31-32 ESV
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

Matthew 7:11 ESV
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Matthew 11:29-30 ESV
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

This is my (our) great God who boldly declares, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away." (Luke 21:33 ESV)

What then, shall I fear? Life is full of uncertainty. Promises made by humans are easily broken. Feelings rise and disappear as the ocean's wave, come and go as it wishes.

Only God is faithful and able to fulfil His promises without second chances. When God says He'll build His kingdom on earth and every name shall bow, He'll definitely see it through. When God says there is no other name than His, He knows it is the truth.

Recently I've simply been so amazed at God's faithfulness to me and it's incredibly touching to see how He works in the lives of people who sincerely seek after Him. God is good. God is really, really good.

Grace Triumphs Over Judgment!

Facing people who love to argue about philosphical / religious matter, just be gentle and listen to their point of views. Ponder how they come into their current mindset, observe their background, life experience, social standings, work life, family member's personality, parental teaching, etc.

Arguing back is simply foolish. A loving heart that's willing to listen and understand is so much better.

Church today teaches about God's all-encompassing love and grace. We are loved and forgiven no matter what we do, did, or will do. Dot.

The Cause: Right Living, Newness of Life
By Ps Indra Lim

Q: Do we support sin? Does grace-teaching support sin?

A: What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? (Romans 6:1, 2 NIV)

这样,怎么说呢?我们可以仍在罪中、叫恩典显多吗? 断乎不可!我们在罪上死了的人岂可仍在罪中活着呢? (罗马书 6:1, 2 CUNPSS-上帝)

Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture: Classic Petals and Mystical Garden

Thousands of floral appliqués, french laces, embroideries, golden leaves on your waist, see through tulle in pastel shades. Romantic and mystical walk through this sweet, fairytale garden. Soft and gentle hues, shimmers and crystals all adorn the beautiful pieces as models grace through the runway. So dreamy..

Chanel Couture Spring 2014 by Karl Lagerfeld

Crop top and short skirt paired with fancy couture sneakers by Massaro. Somehow I find it a bit disturbing... the idea of gorgeous, light dresses with pearls and embellishments on sneakers, no matter how couture the sneakers are. The boyish footwear seems to be too chunky... and although this can be interpreted as 'staying true to the Chanel's spirit of modern, liberalist feminine wear', it just.....doesn't feel right. But it's Karl anyway. He makes right whatever.

Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture Collection

Donatella Versace and the iconic hood - symbol of feminine power and grace. Fully embellished body-con silhouette with more fluid draping, and some sharp edges. Sexy and fierce. Strong, confident woman who's not afraid of expressing her feminine identity in this harsh world. That's the feel.

Roll that sexy pair of legs.

Valentino Spring 2013 Paris Couture

Creative inventions by designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino Spring 2014 Couture collection.

Christian Dior Spring 2014 Paris Couture Collection

Designed by Raf Simons for Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture, the whole collection is brought together under one theme: Lightness. The dresses feel airy (literally airy because of the fabric pattern) and there's a lot of movement. Embellishment is nowhere to be seen, no crystal no pearl whatsoever, just fabric and its lightness.

I don't think any of this is flattering for most woman's shape though. I don't like the intentionally used fabric with regular torn pattern, it's not feminine at all, and there's way too many horizontal lines on the bottom-part. Just a preference. Taste is very subjective issue :)

Elie Saab Spring 2014 Paris Couture Collection

Pastel color, blush pink, hydrangea blue, and lilac. Classical dresses, soft, flowing, gentle draperies to create the Roman goddesses silhouette. Top that with Elie Saab's signature embroideries and appliqués. Romantic and so dreamy.

Also the incredibly gorgeous flower-print gowns that shaded from black near the neckline to white at the hem, with countless colorful blooms in between. Breathtaking. I can't help but post everything in the runway.
