Alive

For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God.
This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
(Ecclesiastes 2:26)

God makes me feel alive.

Really, really, truly, alive.

Have you ever felt the tingling sensation of re-enjoying something you used to enjoy in the past? There's just something about childhood's fascination about the world where everything is candy-coloured and sweet. It's the world where everyone is beautiful and every moving thing on earth is extremely interesting.

It's the world where I imagine God loves so much, with everyone assuming the best out of each other until proven otherwise. And even when people wrong us, we're just like the immature kids who get angry and fight and yell to each other but graciously release forgiveness the next day. Forgive and forget.

The world is not perfect, and no one will ever be. But God is. He was, is, and will always be perfect.

God lets me know the meaning of being truly alive in this fallen world. And once I've tasted a piece of this wonderful, inexpressible joy of resting in His presence, I'm more than eager to discover more jewels along the journey. Like a kid finding the delicious taste of her first chocolate piece, I'm addicted to find more about God's persona and power in this world.

Only God satisfies.

When was the last time you felt totally alive? It's that tingling joy in your stomach and the unstoppable wide grin on your lips. Awesome feeling.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

John 16:24
Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Psalms 19:8
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

Nehemiah 2:43
And they offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. And the joy of Jerusalem was heard far away.

John 15:11
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

Psalm 17:23

My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.

Psalm 4:7
You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.

Proverbs 17:22
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

John 16:22
So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”

I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

(Psalm 16 of King David)
