Home by Gabrielle Aplin. It's More Than A Bed to Lay On

Home: where I can read or think or write or chat or brainstorm till falling asleep..

But I'd like to elaborate more on it.

Like what the song says, home is where you go when you're alone and where you go to rest your bones. It's more than just a place to lay your head on, or where you make your bed.

Home is a root. A foundation. A smaller cell filled with God's grace and love to prepare us for the greater challenge outside the comfortable line drawn by our parents at home. I thank God for blessing me with a very loving parent who I know will always protect me (and sisters) no matter what.

They may not be the most expressive parent on earth, but they're the best I can ever have and I'll never wish to have it any better way. They've literally poured out their youth to provide for the family. Together, scratching their dreams of a better future for the family and to bring even greater blessings for others.

“Love is not affectionate feeling,
but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained”
- C.S Lewis

I totally have no idea where they can have the strength to persevere and survive the tough times. It was just a newly wed couple younger than my age, with no certain stronghold or guidance about the city. Young and brave souls, persistent to ride Jakarta's challenge. Simply driven by the desire for a better future and better living for the family.

A lot of people that I see also have this kind of drive - strong desire to provide a better life for the family. Working moms who stays on the dual-job career path (definitely not easy to be a mother of few while working full-time). Fathers who work their bones night and day for the sake of bringing milk home for the babies. Single mom who's willing to take on any kind of job to send the precious children study in expensive schools overseas, for them to get a chance of better life. There are just too many awfully wonderful, amazing, touching examples of just how far people can go for their family.

Really, is it just something magical about parents? Where does that strong desire come from? Can love really drive people that much?

I think I'll be forever amazed.

Great parents, thank you so much for being great and faithful. Thank you so much for your countless sacrifices over and over again for us. Thank you for your endless faith of the brighter future. Thank you for the strong heart. Thank you for providing not just a house to live in, but a home. There's nothing greater in the world than a safe home, physically and emotionally.

Believe it, you've made a huge positive return investment with endless profitability payback opportunity. May God blesses you million times more. Love.

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you,
so that you may live long and that it may go well with you
in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.
Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise"
