Sonnet 43 - Browning's Love Poem

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right:
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.

I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

- Elizabeth Barrett Browning (Sonnet 43)

Wanted to change the line and spacing to suit my preference, but googled the sonnet and learnt that there's a thing called "composition", and I don't have the heart the alter this exceptionally beautiful sonnet.

But I finally found the heart. There you go 3 additional spacings in between the lines.

Well, passion is one of the key to living the life. Be reminded of the intensity of your early life adventure. Be reminded of the tenacity, the thrill, the burning curiosity of those days. As we age and experience more, we tend to tone down a bit of this and that emotional encounter. It's neither good nor bad, I think. Only nature playing its due course.

Some heat is always good, but never play with the fire too much lest you get burnt..

One of these days, I'll try BBQing marshmallows on a lit bonfire by the beach. Add to that the perfect starry, starry night. Gonna be super awesome.

God bless!

These are The Times

There are times when life surprises you with many unexpected circumstances. You thought it is going to be all right, that everything is perfect and sweet, and what comes around is the exact opposite of what you expected things to be.

There are times when life brings you around, round and round you go in the endless cycle of hope and despair, unable to fathom any sense of certainty and assurance of what the future may bring, or how life is going to be, at the end of it all.

There are times when you have wanted one so bad, so desperately that you know you will do anything to hold one within the palm of your hands, only to find out that your very life is seeping away, slowly, steadily, out of your reach, out of your sanity.

There are times of defeat.

There are times of brokenness.

There are times of anguish.

There are times of sorrow.

There are times of complete helplessness, and there are times of utter darkness.

There are times when hope retires and strength fades. And for all you know, you are left with nothing, no power to carry you forward, no dream to cling on, no back to turn to, no shoulder to rest on, nobody. Noone, nothing.

Except God.

Then you will come to a realisation that in all those desolate times, God never leaves you. The unknown God has made Himself known to you all along. Those times of hopelessness are there to propel you to seek the true hope that will never fade away. The darkest times are designed to draw you nearer to the Light of the world. Despair and grief is to bring you closer to the true source of comfort and peace on earth.

Then you will understand that God is always present. In the good times, in the bad times, He is the faithful God that does not shift minds like mortals do. Nothing that you did will ever take you away from God, and nothing that you do will ever take God away from you. You have sinned, yes you are weak, but God's power is made perfect in your weaknesses.

And then you will know that God, is always for you. As you are created to be for Him, He has always been for you.

So worry not, for the past has past. Those moments are there for reasons, and I believe, those are the times when God reveals Himself to you slowly, steadily, until your stoned heart are ready to greet a new beginning. Do not dwell on the past. They are there for reasons.

Otherwise, how else will you seek God?

National Flood Day 17 January 2013: Free Admission to Jakarta Water Park

With whatever's left on my macbook's battery and internet.. there's this song that accompanied me this whole day: You are For Me by Kari Jobe.

Fyi, it's officially a National Flood Day in Jakarta today. Everywhere in Jakarta is flooded by heavy rainfall plus high tide plus blocked sewages and probably dam insufficiency. I'm serious. It's ALL OVER Jakarta. From the Central Jakarta in CBD area, the South, the North, the West and the East.

Yeappp there you go. The chocolatey HI roundabout, right at the core of Jakarta CBD area. Surrounding this superstar roundabout is the famed four world-class hotels: Mandarin Oriental, Kempinski, Hyatt, Pullman. My colleagues and company guests mostly reside in this area. Really hope they won't be traumatised by this "special" Jakarta experience.

Rescue team in the CBD area

That's exactly infront of Mandarin Oriental, which is right in the heart of Jakarta CBD area.

Add to that the issue of overpopulated city and illegal housings on the riverbanks. This city is really giving the new governor Pak Joko Widodo a massive headache. Some area got flood as high as 4 metres, some only at ankle-high. My housing area got flood till some 50cm or so and not too far on the big road Gunung Sahari it's nearly 1 metre. And even now when I'm writing this post I start hearing the sound of the rain.... and a lil bit of thunder in between. Jakarta o Jakarta (x__x)

Even the State Palace is flooded! On a phone call to the Jakarta Governor, our President SBY said to prioritise the citizens and leave the Palace later on. The governor Jokowi also went up and about to flooded area to check on victims, monitored the dam condition, and helped encourage the people. Proud! :)

Motorcyclist surrendering to the water level. Some area in Jakarta got flood as high as 4 metres.

Blessed to Give :)

An old man walking a lonesome road,
Came at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm vast and wide and deep.

The old man crossed in the twilight dim,
The rolling stream had no fears for him;
But he turned when safe on the other side,
And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow traveler near,
"You are wasting your strength with building here,
Your journey will end with the passing day,
You never again will pass this way.
You've crossed the chasm, deep and wide,
Why build you this bridge at eventide?"

The builder lifted his old gray head,
"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,
"There followeth after me today,
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
The chasm that was nought to me,
To the fair headed youth may a pitfall be.
He too must cross in the twilight dim-
Good friend, I am building this bridge for him."

- Sources unknown

How often do you stop by and put that extra effort to help others? Jesus said it is more blessed to give than to receive. How true is that in your life? Have you experienced the true joy of giving to others?

When we have monetary advantage, we can give in forms of money. But where money is lacking, time can make it up. Then, at moments when time is lacking, effort is there to cover up the sparsity of time. There's no excuse in giving.

Love is the root cause of our desire to give. Give a part of you away, every single day, every single hour. Be aware of how infectious that love can be. If there's no money, start by spending your time. Some people even say that time is the greatest gift we can ever give to people, cause neither us nor them can ever take it away. So start giving away that sweet Hi in a conversation, warm smile to the office boy, appreciative message for our colleagues, etc.

By My Side - David Choi

I'm just listening to the clock go ticking
I am waiting as the time goes by
I think of you with every breath I take
I need to feel your heartbeat next to mine

You're all I see
In everything

I just want to hold you
I just want to kiss you
I just want to love you all my life
I normally wouldn't say this
But I just can't contain it
I want you here forever, right here
By my side

All the fears you feel inside
And all the tears you've cried
They're ending right here
I'll heal your heart and soul
I'll keep you oh so close
Don't worry I'll never let you go

You're all I need
You're everything

I just want to hold you
I just want to kiss you
I just want to love you all my life
I normally wouldn't say this
But I just can't contain it
I want you here forever, right here
By my side

No one else would ever do
I got a stubborn heart for you
Call me crazy but it's true
I love you
I didn't think that it would be
You who made it clear to me
You're all I need

I just want to hold you
I just want to kiss you
I just want to love you all my life
I normally wouldn't say this
But I just can't contain it
I want you here forever, right here
By my side

Breathtaking beauty.

Gorgeous lady, splendid hair, cute little speedy, incredible scenery, and a very, very hot air balloon.

It's Ms Muse unlocking the mysteries of the most reputable art institutions in the world, le musée du Louvre. I'll be there one day.
