Wisdom: More Than Memorizing Verses

What is wisdom?

Is it knowing more things? Reading more books? Experiencing more? Earning more money?

Is it ability to read people? Diplomacy skill? Leading more people?

Hear what the Bible says.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

Psalms 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and they who live by it grow in understanding.

The world may define wisdom in its own many ways. We have zillions of character building and self-development books in circulation. We have private coaches to counsel the top corporate executives. Some even go as far as saying, "If any of you lack wisdom, ask Google!"

Obviously, everybody from all walks of life is searching for wisdom. Girls don't want to be just pretty and sexy, but pretty and sexy and wise. Guys don't want to be just rich and hot, but rich and hot and wise.

We want wisdom!

Pan Seared Foie Gras and 10K Sweat

There's this new Chinese restaurant at Hyatt, Taste Paradise. The restaurant got a very nice, strategic location in the heart of the CBD (where everybody flocks in for the whole weekend). It's a Chinese infused with French in a quite decent way. Think of lobster and truffle.

The monstrous foie gras in some juice I forgot. Monstrous because everytime I taste it in my mouth I'll think of cholesterol, saturated fats, and cholesterol, and some more fat. That's what it is, isn't it? And that's what I love. Sooo tasty! But true to Gossen's Law #1, after eating half of this liver my tongue and my brain already have enough of it. And the enjoyment starts to decline in proportion with the number of bites.

Less is more. Applicable to fashion too, don't you think?

The above fattiness would then translate into this - Adidas King of The Road Marathon 2012. Many many many thanks to this girl! Me and my SCG colleague can participate in this mini-marathon because she selflessly registered for me right at the racepack collection spot. Somehow I stupidly missed the registration deadline. Silly. Thanks Rosieeee

Accidentally met with a guy from Ancora Foundation. How surprising! Never expected to see him joining a race lol. Nice to see you Pak!

Love Usher! Big Fan!

Can never get enough of this song even though it's been out for long (about 2 years now). I love Usher!! Do you love him?

DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love - Usher ft. Pitbull

So we back in the club with the bodies rockin' from side to side
Thank God the week is done, I feel like a zombie gone back to life
Hands up, yeah suddenly we all got our hands up
No control of my body
Ain't I seen you before?
I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes

'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again
Yeah, baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again
So dance, dance like it's the last, last night of your life, life
Gon' get you right
'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again

Keep downing drinks like there's no tomorrow
There's just right now, now, now, now, now
Gon' set the roof on fire
Gonna burn this motherfucker down, down, down, down, down

Hands up, when the music drops, we both put our hands up
Put your hands on my body
Swear I seen you before
I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes

'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again
Yeah, baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again
So dance, dance like it's the last, last night of your life, life
Gon' get you right
'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again

Usher, don't lie
Hear no evil, or speak no evil, or see no evil
Get it, baby, hope you catch it like T.O., that's how we roll
My life is a movie, and you just Tivo

Honey got me swishin' like a dreadlock
She don't wrestle, but I got her in a headlock
Yabba dabba doo, make her bed rock
Mami on fire, pss, red hot

Bada bing, bada boom
Mr. Worldwide as I step in the room
I'm a hustler, baby, but that you knew
And tonight it's just me and you

'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love again
Yeah, baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin' in love, fallin' in love
So dance, dance like it's the last, last night of your life, life
Gon' get you right

So cool..!! Awww...

The Arrow and the Song

The Arrow and The Song

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward,
in an oak I found the arrow,
still unbroken;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Indiana, Jon McLaughlin

Got introduced to this super charming American singer Jon McLaughlin. This beautiful song is actually his first released single in the album Indiana... in 2007. That's the year I first went to Sydney.

Been 5 years since then. Met many people, seen many things, did many crazy stuffs, experienced many things I can never had in Indonesia (taking public transportation, walking from home to uni, picnic at the beach, morning jog on the street, etc. Many things happened. Many lessons to be learnt.

Do you love being nostalgic about your college years? :D

Indiana - Jon McLaughlin

I'm glad i never lived next to the water
So I could never get used to the beach
And I'm glad I never grew up on a mountain
To figure out how high the world could reach
I love the miles between me and the city
Where I quietly imagine every street
And I'm glad I'm only picturing the moment
I'm glad she never fell in love with me

For some the world's a treasure to discover
And your scenery should never stay the same
And they're trading in their dreams for Explanations
All in an attempt to entertain
But I love the miles between me and the city
Where I quietly imagine every street
And I'm glad I'm only picturing the moment

I Hate Pigs

Matthew 7:6
“Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.

Guard your heart against those who won't take good measure to take care of it. Not everybody can get you, and not everybody even bother to understand. Doesn't mean you don't love or respect them, though. This is about being careful on who you choose to be close with and who you choose to share your deepest secrets and dreams.

Your pearls are precious. Don't just throw them away to people who will trample them and step on them right on their feet. Next time I'll try to write how to spot these type of people and to be careful with your heart when you face them ;)

I thank God for showing me that these people exist. It's always a good experience to know and understand people more. That's why, for those who take the extra miles to cherish me, for those who always stay around in my wheel of life, for those who don't care about my job, wealth, appearance, family status, etc, I'll cherish them. I'll keep them close to my heart, and give an extra effort to build my relationship with them.

Think for a while. Have you appreciated them enough? Have you shown them how thankful you are to have them in your life?

There's never a word too late to start something with your family, spouse, siblings, friends. Maybe you've taken these people for granted?

One Friday Night.. Part ii

One of the few occasion where I actually bring my camera and take pictures of food.. (not a food blogger). It's actually the more elaborate post of what's happening this night. The most exhilarating thing is dinner with my pastor from The Cause family and his beautiful wife, and the time to catch up and talk a lot with Daniel. I guess when you're a full timer, time for a beautiful dinner and light conversation without rush is something.

I appreciate the company more than the food.. But not saying the food is average though. The chef Arnold Poernomo nailed it well. I specially love the dessert <3

It's Nest Grill, btw.

Miranda Kerr, Floral Shift Dress, Vogue Fashion Night Out 2012

Miranda Kerr yesterday at Fashion's Night Out in Sydney, Australia. It's a special annual event organized by Vogue Australia, and thus the catchy phrase VFNO (Vogue Fashion Night Out). This huge idea is originated by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who thinks it may be extremely exhilirating to have all fashionistas around the globe gather in stores for celebrity spotting, music, giveaways, and of course, shopping.

It's also the perfect night for major retailers and designers to parade their brands and beauties. Models, hot chicks, street fashion bloggers, stylists, etc. Well basically it's for every fashion forward woman on earth.

The event is so popular that it's currently held in some 19 countries. Involving how many shoppers? Thousands and thousands of people, I believe. Have you been in one?

Miranda was there to promote Kora Organics, her beauty and skin care line. She also just recently pops a new hair care line in Sydney botanical garden. That day she wore a beautiful, cheerful floral shift dress with a mini Chanel and pointy stiletto. Gorgeous!!

A Love Letter From God - Bill Gaultiere

A Love Letter from God - by Dr Bill Gaultiere
Dear Child,
I love you! (John 3:16) I chose you when I planned creation (Ephesians 1:11-12) and I made you in my image (Genesis 1:27), knitting you together in your mother's womb (Psalm 139:13).
I know the number of the hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30) and I am familiar with all your ways (Psalm 139:3). My thoughts of you are as countless as the sand on the seashore (Psalm 139:17-18).
I am love (1 John 4:16) and the greatest commandment that I have for you is that you love (Matthew 22:37-40). My love is made complete in you when you receive my love for you and love others and me as I have loved you (1 John 4:7-21). To show you how to live this life of love I've given you Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17), laws that are good and pleasing to you (Psalm 119).
But you've sinned by breaking my laws (1 John 1:8). You've hurt others and you've hurt yourself (Romans 2:9). Most of all, your sins are against me (Psalm 51:4). You've hurt me (Luke 19:41) and angered me (Romans 2:8). I am the Lord (Exodus 6:2), the King of kings (1 Timothy 6:15), and the Righteous Judge (1 Peter 4:5) and it is a terrible thing to come under my righteous judgment (Hebrews 10:31).
So to fear me is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). But you don't need to remain afraid of me for I am a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6). In fact, I've come to you in Jesus, not to lord my authority and power over you, but to serve you (John 13:13-14). Knowing my perfect love will cast out all of your fear (1 John 4:18).

Talent and Favors

Whatever we do, do it as if we're giving the LORD our work. Excel at the small things first, then He'll give ways to the greater responsibility.

God's measurement is different from the world's. He doesn't care whether you're a CEO or housekeeper. Earning more money doesn't make you more respectable or worthy of His love. Everybody reserves the same seat beside the Almighty in heaven. Salvation is an absolute – it’s either 0 or 1. When you believe, you’re saved. When you don’t you’re not.

Present Him your heart and your sweat, and He'll increase your capacity.

If you're brainier, study more and teach more.
If you're richer, earn more and give more.
If you're artsier, create more and offer more.
If you're worker, do more and create more.

At the end of the day, outward appearance may be deceiving and we can always hide our selfish ambition by doing a "supposedly generous act". If you're truly in it for God's cause, you'll know. God knows. Besides, people will be able to tell if your actions really stem from a genuine heart or not. Noone can mask a heart forever..

1 Samuel 16:7
“Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

1 Corinthians 15:58
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
