My Money Minded Month

Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

What interests me the most this month is about being financially secure vs insecure ($___$)

I think, people can have as much money as they can get, but as long as the internal struggle (financial insecurity) is still present, they won’t be able to enjoy their wealth. While the financially secure bunch will be able to just relax, exercise the responsibility God gives them, and enjoy life as it is.

Have you seen a workaholic person? Is any of your family members addicted to “providing for the family”? How does it feel?

I thank God still; I’ve never experienced any of that. My family struggled in the earliest years to literally provide for us, so I can understand why some things happened and why some did not. I feel really blessed and lucky to have such a responsible parent who give their all to provide the best for the children (me and sisters), without compromising important family values. Emphasis on the value of togetherness – spending quality time with family members and build a real relationship.

It’s just one of the example, I think. Money is a very tricky thing, and financial freedom can be a very slippery concept at times, if not most of the time. Just how far is far enough? How much money is much enough? I believe, God puts a different seed in every one’s heart. One person’s portion is different to another’s. Not everyone can handle the same amount of responsibility and temptation that money generates.

At the end of the day, it comes down to a simple choice between God OR money. Why OR? Can’t we have both? Yes, we can, but only if God allows it. Be careful. Always keep your heart in check and secure it wisely. Many Christians have fallen in this area everywhere everytime everynationality and everyrace, and it happens because it can happen and money is indeed very tricky.

So, who do you serve?

God bless!
AA
