Honor and Reverence Up Against Pride

Revelation 4:11
"You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."

This time I'm highlighting some verses about honoring God. The reasons, why and how to do so. It's very easy to slip into a self-righteous-ing (if there's such word) mindset as we stay longer in Christianity. But always remind ourselves that discipleship is all about following Christ, not the religion.

Religious activities in a religion sect is created by humans, not God Himself. He only instructs us to follow Him, praise Him, rever and honor Him with all our might. By honoring God, we're minimizing the chance of falling into pride, one of the biggest challenge any believer will face.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Our safety, our life, our redemption, they all belong to God. It is by His unjustifiable grace that we all can live here peacefully (enough) on earth. Nothing we do will ever grant us a ticket to heaven. It's only by God's mercy.

Our life revolves around Him. He is the Divine Creator, the All-Knowing, the Highest Being, and the Almighty. Let's start to acknowlege His power and hold onto His advices in our daily activities. More on Him, less on our side. To rever God means to trust in His wisdom and put them into practice.

Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

Isaiah 66:2
"Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?"
declares the LORD.
"These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,
and who tremble at my word."

Jeremiah 9:23-24
Thus says the LORD:
"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight," says the LORD.

Jesus is the perfect example of trusting in God's will and guidance. He has a clear understanding about His position on earth, and His true source of power and wisdom.

John 5:30
"By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me."

Not by our own might, but His.
