The Wanderer and Us

James 5:19-20
My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

Let's stop and think for a while. Is there anyone that we know of, any friend, any family, any church member, who strays away from Christ?

Sometimes it's not just about evangelising and getting new souls to His saving hand. At times, it's about the old, weary souls who wander away from His truth and lose their life directions. These people know about Christ, yes, they do. They might even be the ones who initially introduce you to God, or people whose lives encouraged you to follow God. But now, they've strayed.

It's our responsibility, as brothers and sisters in God's big family to be attentive to these lives. Don't be too quick to judge and condemn their decisions to "explore". There may be things that force them to reevaluate their faith in Christ. It can be trauma, or unresolved conflict that causes them to doubt the value of a believer.

Never condemn. Never judge.

James 4:12
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

Pray for them instead. Seek to be a value-adding presence to positively influence their pain, and doubt. Shy away from evil talks and murderous words. The world sees what appears on the surface, but God sees the heart. He'll appreciate it a lot when we're able to bring that beloved family member back to His embrace.

God bless you :)
