No, Not This World

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Our standard, or the world's standard, is different from God's. We may see success from our own definitive angle: Material riches, outward beauty, popularity, and power.

But our God says no to all those measures. That's now how a man is deemed righteous in His eyes. The Lord sees the heart. That statement alone speaks much of what standard we Christians shall strive on. And that is to be right, in His eyes.

Who cares if you earn less money by doing an honest job? Who cares if you treat your boss respectfully and honour him at work? Who cares if you don't go on countless dates and stepping on people's hearts? Who cares if you stay free from alcohol and pornography?

God cares (and Alcoholic Anonymous). The world may ridicule and tease you for all your saint-like actions, but hey, do you belong to the world, or God?

If you know the answer, then you've already got yourself a set of living standard. If it's the world, then by all means, pursue all those things described above. Work your ass off and be the richest billionaire in the world. Live a wild party life every night of the week and feel the excitement rushing through your brain. Or go to Korea and have the multiple plastic surgery to perfection. Pursue what you want, and never give up midways. Don't settle for anything less than number 1. Else, you're a loser.

Likewise, if the answer is God, pursue His righteousness with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind (Luke 10:27). It's said, with all. No halfway measure.

Bottom line is, don't trust what you see, what you listen, what people say, what people do, etc. Wealth doesn't always bring contentment, beauty doesn't always bring esteem. Trust in the Lord, and He'll reveal things the world may miss: The truth.

God bless you! :)
