To Be Understood, Not Argued

"A father once told me, 'I can't understand my kid. He just won't listen to me at all.'

'Let me restate what you just said,' I replied. 'You don't understand your son because he won't listen to you?'

'That's right,' he replied.

'Let me try again,' I said. 'You don't understand your son because he won't listen to you?'

'That's what I said,' he impatiently replied.

'I thought that to understand another person, you needed to listen to him,' I suggested.

'Oh!' he said. There was a long pause. 'Oh!' he said again, as the light began to dawn. 'Oh, yeah! But I do understand him. I know what he's going through. I went through the same thing myself. I guess what I don't understand is why he won't listen to me.'

A Mixed Bag: Handbags Type and Your Personality?

Sam Kang ft. Tiffany: For A Kiss..

I must be lucky or this must be my day
It's the warmth of holding you till I'm infused by your scent
I think it's something I can feel for myself`
Could it get any better than this, I'm holding my breath
For a kiss

Unyielding motion that's wrapped up in a smile
But you seem so steady as I am burning inside
I feel the warmth as I have fallen too deep
Now I know that you know me cause I've been told to believe
It's just a kiss
For a kiss

Close your eyes and we can float away
All alone through this crowded place
Maybe you and I can find some time
Till forever or more
So baby move your lips
Come close I need this kiss
No time to fake I just can't explain

The sweetest touch that I just can't get enough
Could it get any better than this I'm holding my breath

For a kiss

Anger Management and Bloods

Lol is this thing for real? Do you think it applies to you?

Follow Jesus: A Short Movie of Christ By Igniter Media

Jesus: The Way. The Truth. The Life

And Peter said, "Bye-bye fishing."

Lol! The opening really cracked me up. And the amazing thing is, it gets even much, much better later on. I have to praise this clip over and over again for its witty jokes and hilarious pun on the Pharisees (note down that Pharisee number 3 guy with #unfollowjesus).

At the deeper level, the short movie pictures the fact that people in this digital era still encounters the exact same problem as those in Jesus' time period. Approximately 2,000 years back then, this guy called Jesus declared himself as the Messiah among the Jews. That means he claimed himself as the promised deliverer of the Jewish nation who has been prophesied in the Hebrew Holy Bible since ages ago.

A Chat With God: On Prayer

This is a video my friend once shared on facebook. It was last week, I think, but somehow I keep delaying myself to watch it. At a first glance, the title looks really appetising: A Chat With God, who wouldn't want that?

I'd love to talk to Him eye to eye. One day, if it's possible. First thing I'll ask Him is.. who is He? Then some zillions other questions will follow. I'm quite a talker with one, extremely curious mind, so the things that I'd want to ask will be flowing endlessly.

I've been a Christian for about 2.5 years now, and there are just so many things I'm still clueless about Christianity. Things like.. you know, all those hardcore theological stuffs. But one thing I'm certain about is, Jesus is God. And He's the Saviour. Other things will follow and fall into places when the time is right :)

Westlife ft. The Notebook: One Litre of Tears

To be perfectly honest, I did cry a bit listening to this song while remembering the Notebook storyline. Such a sad movie :(

Alzheimer sure is a very devastating disease. It affects the brain's nerve cells and causes the sufferer's memory to deteriorate over time, gradually losing their ability to remember things in the past, let alone to process new memories. Many tragic, real life stories have been reported from the patient's family and friends. Heartbreaking confessions of how this illness has shattered all hopes and dreams of the future.

The Notebook clearly portrays the sadness, and excruciating pain of living with your loved one forgetting everything about you. That's nearing the final stage of Alzheimer. Can you imagine that? Your most beloved is alive, but at the same time, she's not. You can feel her skin, smell her sweet fragrance, see her smiles, but you are nowhere to be found in her mind.

I believe in miracles, I really do. Just like what happened in the movie, when the old Allie was suddenly awakened with full realisation of who Noah is and their life together, as though she had been sleeping all this time in the progress of the disease. Noah realised this change from the look in her eyes. He saw her. He saw himself in her eyes. That is his moment of miracle..

And I cried!!!

No, Not This World

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Our standard, or the world's standard, is different from God's. We may see success from our own definitive angle: Material riches, outward beauty, popularity, and power.

But our God says no to all those measures. That's now how a man is deemed righteous in His eyes. The Lord sees the heart. That statement alone speaks much of what standard we Christians shall strive on. And that is to be right, in His eyes.

Who cares if you earn less money by doing an honest job? Who cares if you treat your boss respectfully and honour him at work? Who cares if you don't go on countless dates and stepping on people's hearts? Who cares if you stay free from alcohol and pornography?

Intrinsic Value

Your value, is intrinsic and irrevocable.

Never let anything, nor any standard, deters your self confidence and esteem from what God meant it to be. Let no one influences your perception of self.

Eurecca of The Red Soles: Christian Louboutin and His Cult

He's the epitome of shoes manufacturer, designer, promoter, publicist, and trendsetter in the world. He sits at the highest throne in this world's fetishism for arching heels. He's the genius inventor, whose creations break the rules and norms of common shoe knowledge. Daring, bold, and witty.

He is a 49 years old humble and funny guy, and I'm pretty sure we all know who he is. His wit and playfulness is evident in his creative designs. Shoes with spikes, studs, pointy toes, candy colours - name everything you can think of. That's what make his collection celebrated in the whole earth, crazed by celebrities and stay home moms equally.

Hillarious H20 9gag

Do you get the joke?

Lol!

To be honest, I've always thought that the characters are ugly, and even till now I still seriously think that they are. They're just so freaking ugly. But somehow, I just can't stop myself from looking at it. I guess, in every kind of publicity or marketing stunt, the greats will attract viewers just as the bad ones will. And for this reason, I salute the guys in 9gag. The stickman cartoon proves to be a new, fresh, attractive idea which got the site insanely popular only in months time.

The jokes and spinoffs are very creative. High quality content + attention-grabbing art = High market share. I love creative ideas.

Someday, Someday

Someday
I will see You
Face to face
In Your embrace

Someday
I will touch You
Then I'll smile
With all my glee

Someday
I will be there
to hold You dear
to feel You near

One day
when the dawn is over
I will take my portion

Sunday Sensation - Not Underrated

Psalm 84:10
Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Have you ever wonder why Sunday feels so special? Have you ever wonder, why the church always seems to exude a certain atmosphere of joy, wonder, excitement, and peace?

If you always experience that whenever you come inside a church ground, that's awesome. You're not the only person having that feeling. But if you've never, ever, come in touch with all those emotions, let me help you to describe how it's like. Hopefully it can help to light up your understanding of why many Christians are addicted to Sunday service.

Sunday, is the day of the Lord. It's special. It's amazing. It's a feeling of being alive, being in a complete state of serenity and peace. I'm not saying that any other day and any other place outside church isn't special. But it's just this weird, exciting, different atmosphere of thousands of faithful believers gathering up together to worship Him.

Praising You

I can't stop myself from praising You
I can't end this song of worship
I can't hold myself from praising You
All my life
In all my life

Hear my music of Your wonder
Words by words of Your splendor
To You, I will give this song
For Your glory
and Your honour

My Exalted
My Glorious King
My Redeemer
All praises to You

BT: The Antikythera Mechanism

Another amazing trance music producer and and DJ. His album The Binary Universe is actually very interesting, and I'm pretty sure those of you who love orchestra/instrument oriented music will love it so much.

The tracks are named with amazingly unique title. One of them is this awesome track Antikythera Mechanism. Listen to it and tell me what you think of the mix.

It is a smile
in her cloudy days
It is a glow
in the moonless nights

It is..
Kindness
Patience
Perseverance
Compassion

It is
Gentleness in the storm
Warmth in the winter frost
Strength
in all the heart's vulnerability

Laughter, and radiance
in good times, and bad times
From a tender
Quiet soul

Emma Hewitt ft. van Buuren - Colours

I just discovered that she's an Australian! Wooo so proud of Australia! Okay, although I'm not an Australian citizen but I love that country so much, for the air, the city, the people, the lifestyle, etc. Australia is such a great nation and the people are such a dear :)

Been there for 5 years for a university degree and amazing chance to have a taste of life in Sydney. Never been more grateful for that. Thanks God.

By the way, I love this video so much. I find it to be very artistically refined and produced. What do you think?

Jesus, God, and The Holy Words

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made;
without him nothing was made that has been made.

In him was life,
and that life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness,
but the darkness has not understood it.

John 1:1-5

In God, there is life. In God alone we can reach that light, which outshines any darkest pit and bottom.

Let's stop for a while and ponder:
Are we still residing in the darkness? Have we understood the Lord?

You Know Me: A Praise of The Psalmist

You have searched me, LORD,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue
you, LORD, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

Clean and Unclean, Pure and Impure

Titus 1:15
To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled

Sometimes, it's not about the thing itself. Clubbing, games, Harry Potter, dating, facebook, tweeter, sci-fi, star wars, etc, those issues are never written in the bible. We'll never know whether God prohibits those things in Christian life or not.

But again, to the pure, all things are pure. And to the unpure, nothing is pure. Even reading Harry Potter book can be considered a sin. How so? Because their mind and conscience are defiled.

Take the Corinthian people as an example. At their times, sexual relationship was still a very controversial matter. Many false prophets arose and taught different teaching than what Jesus intended to be. Some people were truly enjoying their freedom, while others were disgusted even by the thoughts of sex and treated it as something wicked, sinful, and defiled.

The Corinthian citizens are divided into two irreconcilable polars, between celibate and hedonistic way of living. The problem was that bad until a famous historian depicted the women as - married to be divorced, divorced to be married.

Start Fresh, and Leave The Past Behind

At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

“No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

John 8:2-11

Cast Away Your Fear

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

The world says, "The more we love someone, the bigger the fear we'll experience."

But God says, "The deeper the love, the lesser the fear."

Instead of falling deeper in love and having a greater fear of losing your loved ones, God says, in Him, we will fear less until the point of perfection where fear no longer present itself in our heart. Not even a trace of it will be found.

Perfect love drives out fear. When we are in a deeper love with God, we'll experience less fear. It will naturally come to you, when you're satisfied and content with His presence.

The Wanderer and Us

James 5:19-20
My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

Let's stop and think for a while. Is there anyone that we know of, any friend, any family, any church member, who strays away from Christ?

Sometimes it's not just about evangelising and getting new souls to His saving hand. At times, it's about the old, weary souls who wander away from His truth and lose their life directions. These people know about Christ, yes, they do. They might even be the ones who initially introduce you to God, or people whose lives encouraged you to follow God. But now, they've strayed.

It's our responsibility, as brothers and sisters in God's big family to be attentive to these lives. Don't be too quick to judge and condemn their decisions to "explore". There may be things that force them to reevaluate their faith in Christ. It can be trauma, or unresolved conflict that causes them to doubt the value of a believer.

Spring 2012 Ocean Goddesses

A Spring 2012 oceanic trend caught by Style editors. Very interesting insight.

It's described as a futuristic water world in Paris. A love story between a mermaid and human in the underworld, as though fashion has found its Atlantis. Evidently, Sarah Burton and Lagerfeld already embraced the ocean goddess' beauty, and hail her charisma. Are you?

Dream A Little Prairie

In my dream
I picture us, standing by
the bed of lilies
Amidst the green meadow
Humming a little song
of our own
In this little prairie

Ravishing
Enchanting
And I can't put an end to
This sweet symphony
A melody of life

Ethereal Beauty of McQueen's Spring 2012 Campaign

The Spring 2012 campaign was shot by David Sims, with Zuzanna Bijoch playing the ethereal beauty dressed in magnificent designs. The campaign has successfully portrayed what the creative director Sarah Burton intended for her romantic style: Beauty of the other world.

And that is exactly what McQueen offers. Designs that sweep you off your feet and take your mind away from your current reality. It's a vision of a parallel universe. It's an allure of the exotic beauty from the unknown land.

It isn't A Game

Concrete Angel Falls by Christina Novelli, on Acoustic

I really adore her style!

Wonder if I can ever dye my hair platinum blonde like that and have it cut that short. My family and friends will probably think I'm having a major breakdown or a serious.. self-restructuring?

Always wanted to try to bring that punk side out of me.

Enjoy!

Gareth Emery ft. Christina Novelli - Concrete Angel Falls

Let me breathe you in
And breathe the words in your mouth
Inside your shivering
The silence shouts so loud

I just want to
I just want to stay around
When my heart beats
I promise I won’t let you down

Dash Berlin ft. Emma Hewitt: Waiting

Adore, adore, adore.

Love, love, love.

Street style! And her voice is really amazing. A good friend of mine introduce me to this beautiful HOT singer. Initially, I didn't really appreciate her till I saw her acoustic version. Somehow I get to love trance vocal without the accompanying beats.

Dash Berlin ft. Emma Hewitt - Waiting

Fading of the day
As night takes over
And I can almost feel you here

Your memory remains
I breath it closer
I swear that I still feel you near

The cool wind is taking over
It’s taking over
So far away
You’re gone so long
Ohh and I’m waiting

Till that day
I take you home
Know that I’m waiting

Haunted by your grace
You know I’m falling
So cool without you
Always in my mind
I hear you calling

Haunted by your grace
The beauty of falling
It echoes through my days
I still hear you calling
You calling me

The cool wind is taking over
It’s taking over
Still
Your so far away
You’re gone so long
Ohh and I’m waiting

Till that day
I take you home
Know that I’m waiting

Laptop Overkill?

Also in April, 2011.

Still using my precious Sony Vaio at that time. I bought my baby macbook pro just about a month after this, I think. Sometime in May.

Never regretted the decision ever since.

Laptop Overkill?

Ok by saying overkill does not mean I refer to heavy computer usage of programming or games. I'm just wondering if leaving laptop on for the whole night would have any harmful effect for my beloved 2006 Vaio?

Nighttime accompanied by music is sweet, and greeting morning (or afternoon) sunshine with beautifully composed melodies set the whole course of the day. Is there any free, usable apps for laptop on/off timer?

Anyway, back to music. Just as we're only as far as who our closest friends are, I encourage people to challenge the self-proposed notion of we are reflected by the type of music that is sound in our heart. We are what we care to listen to. Note that I wrote listen to, not hear to, since I refer listening as a highly attentive process which require official approval from the executive system in our brain whilst hearing is a mere God given gift that is always there.

April 21, 2011

Salted caramel macarons. Crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside. Chilled and served fresh from the bakery.

Always a favourite.

3 AM

My flesh desire took a better part of me.

I was ultimately tempted by the presence and the look of that beautifully shaped macaroon. Salted caramel it is. Baroque. A twisted paradox of human nature, I may say. And of a female’s, I may say once more. The week’s determination of eliminating my calories consumptions finally subdued to the sweet irony, the sinful passion. A guilty pleasure.

The aim was to shake off some unwanted layers of fat out of the system. Nevertheless, life is cruel as it is. Mother of fate often causes us to choose the other path that we hate.

The Existing God

Something I wrote a while back then.

Sept 1, 2009. Woah I've never realised that Facebook has done a very great job in storing my life documentation. I wrote this on my Fb notes and published it in my old blog, which is pretty much nonexistent now.

2009 was the year I got converted. A self-proclaimed agnostic turns into a believer. I remembered the initial rush of falling in love in Him. It was soooo amazing and until now, He's been faithful :)

I remember, at this time period I was so hooked with many books about Christianity. The topic that attracts me the most is the logical arguments and hypotheses surrounding God.

God. Always been, and always be the most notorious subject of debate.

The Existing God

Hey there. So yeah, I’ve been reading this book about Christianity, titled I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist written by Norman L. Geisler and Frank Turek. It was published in 2004 so the book’s been circulating for a great 5 years. Their writing has been a wonderful blessing to those who’re curious enough to seek answers and have doubts on religions (specially on Christianity) and God related issues.

Above all, it’s an exceptional book that does nothing but strengthen my newborn faith on Christianity. If you’re a skeptic or atheist, worry not for there are millions of people out there who stand exactly on the same ground as yours. We demand truth and we seek answers to questions on almost everything. Yet with all our limitations as a mere human being those ceaseless search will tire us off and confuse us even more! Even the great Einstein can’t answer everything.

Raindrops

This was written in April 27, 2011. I've always loved to write down my thoughts ever since.. highschool? But somehow never gathered enough courage to share anything, to anyone.

:)

A wonderful late night talk with a friend.
It was sweet.

“Blessed is the man who walks in a good counsel,” said the King.
“And blessed is he who heeds instructions of the wise.”

The sky is flaunting every sign of approaching winter. Rain, drizzles, grey clouds, gusty days, you name it. Be still, o restless souls. Adhere to nature and walk the paths accordingly. For life has its own season, and hence, statute.

Why, the worry of an ever changing season?
Why, the fear of tentative unknowns?
From dust we were born, to the dust we end
Naught was with us, and naught shall ever pass

God, for Pains

Happiness keeps me sweet
Trials keep me strong
Sorrows keep me humane
Failures keep me humble
Success keeps me glowing
But only God, keeps me going..

For us who have troubles on being patient and learning on the importance of waiting, restrain, self control, impulsiveness, etc.

Keep reminding ourselves that we are all in process, irrelevant of ages and backgrounds. People mature by choosing the path of hardships daily and learning to refuse short-term pleasures. No matter how good they might seem, what's really the benefit of painkillers when we can't cure the source of pain itself?

Why compromise the longer-lasting joy with the short-term's?

Romans 5:3-4
"... but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

I personally believe that every one of us is in a growing process.

A Love-Hate.

At times, it's rainbow
At times, it's grey
One day the birds chirp
Then storm gives way
My heart, my sanity
Blown by the wind

This love
If it is love, tell me why
It hurts so bad

Do you remember?
It was pouring yesterday
Shouting at one another
No apparent reasons, funny
Dont even remember why

Silly

Friendship Analysis Draft

Luke 6:45
“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

It's a very interesting verse since we know that what we let out outwardly is highly influenced by the inwards. We may, or may not, realise it. But our attitude is entirely dependent on our mindset, on how we perceive the world around us, on what we choose to believe in.

What we say reflect who we are.
What we do reflect what we think.

I've always been a person who enjoy observing people, trying to get to know them more by means of conversing, asking questions about their thoughts, values, opinions in life, etc. And of course, their answers is an important factor in analysing their personalities/tendencies.

However, I also find it easier to know them more by questioning what they think of others. For example, whenever possible I will ask my friends what's their view of this person's behavior in a certain situation, or what they think of this person's characters (can be a stranger or another friend).
