Louis Vuitton: Monogram Vernis Alma

In March 1998, Louis Vuitton's artistic director Marc Jacobs first introduced the Monogram Vernis line, together with the company's first prêt-à-porter (ready to wear) clothing line. The flashy colours transform Louis Vuitton palette by adding a touch of jazziness and glamour in the existing collection.

The bag that really attracts me is Alma, a classic. I used to see them in very bright and bold colours like neon green, orange, lemon yellow, and hot pink. However it's still winter now so the Louis Vuitton site only offers darker silhouette, except for one lustrous red tone.

The colours from left to right: Rouge fauviste, pomme d'amour, amarante, terre d'ombre. In addition to these, they have givre, bleu infini and blanc corail, a shade I love the most. It's such a beauty!

The French word vernis (varnish in English) is pretty self-explanatory itself. It is a coated patent leather with shiny and brilliant surface which gives off the look of a frosted nail polish, plus a monogram pattern embossed on the exterior.

The line has created its own line of followers ever since.

Are you a fan? I am!
