Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday

It's Thursday Friday! Found this funny thing on the internet after some random chat with Uncle Google. The brand has created silly but amusing canvas bags with some luxury brand's logo reprinted on the sides. Brands like Hermes, Chanel, even Balenciaga are among the list of the designs. What cracks me the most is, just like the real Hermes, the company also has the waitlist policy.

Chanel Spring/Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

These pictures are taken by Karl Lagerfeld himself in Antibes, South of France. The models, Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls, are wearing all-white outfits with pretty Chanel accessories. I really admire how Karl, with his daring personality, always tries to pull out fresh, different ideas. Gymnastic bars certainly create a distinct vibe for the shots.

Vertu: A Luxury Phone Company

In our newfound digital era, technology always presents itself with cutting-edge power and capability. Improvement is counted in days, if not seconds. Just like the popular saying: Not inching upwards means we're climbing down the ladders. All those industry experts know about this. They realise how important a revolutionary innovation is.

Nevertheless, even if new discovery is highly appreciated and valued in the industry, mainstream demand is none less important. Okay, I'm no expert on technology related thing and I just want to gather opinions on this item's class: Luxury mobile phone.

Valentino Pre-Fall 2012: A Lacy Minimalist

The ready to wear line is led by two gifted Italian designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The coats are minimalistic and straightforward, necessary pieces to refine any day look. The evening long dresses are flowing, velvety with stunning laces.

Snow and A Canvas

One of a few canvas bags that I own. It's pretty handy as a travelling bag. The only concern that I have is the lining doesn't hold really well. Mine's already show some obvious wear and tear although I've always been cautious not to carry too many stuffs at once. I'm not fond of heavy bags.

Stella McCartney and Her Clutch

It's a fact that Stella McCartney produces gorgeous, unique, one of a kind clutches. It's also a fact that she is very particular in choosing the materials she will use on her bags. She opposes the use of animal products in fashion, and thus, no leather material goes into any of her creations. I personally say that her fashion ethic may worth the applause, since it's so rare nowadays to find world class designers that actually care about how they're impacting the world with their actions. For this, I really admire her conviction.

The business side, on the other hand, is quite doubtful. Correct me if I'm wrong. Her strong anti-leather ethic means all her bags are made of PVC material. Just like those bags I can find on any average shopping centre, only with a different size of price tag, and design, of course. McCartney's range from $1000-$2000. Take a look at some of the examples.

Balenciaga Red Velo Limited Edition 2011

Met this beauty swaying on my friend's arm last week. The mood around is still very Chinese-y and the celebration is huge. Then I thought, why not post it here?

It's a F/W 2011 limited edition purchased in Singapore. I only know a bit of Balenciaga bags so it took me quite a while to search it on the internet with Uncle Google. The result is: I think it's a Velo in coquelicot. I'm still doubtful about the colour though, since pictures of coquelicot bags posted on the internet look like bright orangy red, and it doesn't look like sang with its deep, bold red shade. This one's softer.

Pencil, Anyone?

Fancy some luxurious writing instruments? Both Hermes and Louis Vuitton offer these.. pencils. There's nothing much I can say about these items. Will you purchase any of this.. pencil? Or your friends, perhaps?

Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Rayures, A Closer Look

Here are some pictures from lovely bagholics in the Purse Forum about their newly adopted babies Vernis Rayures.

When I initially saw the colour choice, I anticipate the Pomme d'amour version to be much more gorgeous than the Amarante. It's confirmed. Red one looks as sweet as a sugar candy and it looks really lovely in person!

Happy Chinese New Year 2012!

Here is my wishlist for Chinese New Year. I adore bright, bold red colour, and that's why choosing the best bag out of all these isn't an easy task. So, for the time being, this list will do. Wishful thinking is permitted, right?

Top 3 Global Brands: LVMH, Gucci, and Hermès

In a developed market that survives the quake of any massive financial crisis, the rich always gets richer, and the poor gets poorer. A survey of best global brands from Interbrand (based on 2011 reports) shows that LVMH (Louis Vuitton) tops the competition between luxury goods manufacturer, sitting at the highest rank above Gucci and Hermes. It is then followed by Cartier, Tiffany & Co, Armani, and Burberry. Only 7 companies are included in the list! Think about Rolex, Prada, Bottega, Louboutin, etc.

Asian Beauty: Amazing Makeup Change

Can't help but post this. Saw it from my friend's facebook page, reposted again from an Asian blog.

Do you know how different girls can be with and without makeup? I swear, it's no joke.

love Japanese makeup, I was seriously mad about Japs fashion 2 years ago, back in my college years. Yet somehow I'm still surprised everytime I see a before-and-after picture of pretty ladies with their touchups. Just look at these pictures!

Victoria's Secret: Adriana Lima

To be honest, I seriously think Victoria's Secret is the epitome of modelling career. The Angels are undoubtedly revered by both the male and female races in the whole planet, unlike the ambiguous admiration surrounding cigarette-thin runway models.

I really admire their dedication and commitment to the profession. Surely it takes a lot of sweat and hardwork to become one of those who can step on the show's runways, and to stay. Bravo, Lima.

Floral Denim and Pretty Jeans

Spring somewhat always reminds me of flower blossoms and chirping birds. What's better than pretty denims to accommodate all those glee in the meadows and picnics under the blue sky?

See my latest wishlist of jeans in pastel or bright colours, and patterns to greet the season.

Céline Pre-Fall 2012: Leather and The Woman

Phoebe Philo's interpretation of Pre-Fall 2012 is an androgyny world full of oversize leather coats and three-piece suit. The collection is simple and straightforward, challenging the distinction between masculinity and modern fashion convention. The combination of black leather pants, streamlined bags, and pointy pumps is sharp and fierce, but perfectly unites the separates to give a unique mannish look.

Anya Hindmarch: Spring/Summer 2012 Handbags

New handbags collection by Ms Hindmarch for S/S2012. I love how the individual bag is carefully placed and taken care of in the photographs. Each shade of the bag is cleverly accentuated or contrasted with the background colour. and the arrangement makes quite a witty display. All the bags look amazing indeed.

Michael Kors: Pre-Fall 2012

Kors know how women really shop. He knows that when pre-fall hits stores in May, "it's working women buying clothes for work, people buying things to wear to a summer wedding, and fashion obsessives buying their first coat of the season." The collection is then made to be something for all of them. It's a versatile combination of plaid dress for the workplace, long lace skirt for weddings, and uber stylish lamb jackets for the fashion forwards. Not to mention the fur coats.

"They don't buy a coat because they need it," he says. "If they're in love with it, they just turn up the air-conditioning." I wish I can do that in this warm tropical country.

Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2011

I know it's a year bit too late but I can't help to post this amazing show's video. I'm a self-proclaimed fanatic admirer of all the Angels, or more specifically, Miranda Kerr. I wonder if I can look half (or even a tenth) as amazing as she is at 29. It'd be great.

Chanel Spring 2012 RTW: Lure of The Undersea

"Everything is under the sea," said Mr Lagerfeld. The set for spring 2012 RTW is rendered from the magical world of the ocean floor, but none close to our childhood favourite Disney's Mermaid. The clothes are airy and the fabrics are gleaming with the phosphorescence of plankton under moonlight.

First Makeup, When?

Few days ago, I was sitting in the car, on the way back home from one of the greatest shopping mall in Indonesia. A random question suddenly popped in my head, "Will I let my daughters wear makeups?"

I answered my head straightaway, "Of course!". Why won't I let them?

But then I started to ponder. "When?"

I questioned my sister about it. One said she'll let them have it starting from the sweet 17th party. Another said she doesn't care and doesn't feel like thinking about it right now. I continued to ask my mom and she made me realise how she used to dress us (me plus sisters) up during occasions, dating back from loooong long time ago when teletubbies are cute and we're less than 100 cm tall. At school's birthday, she would tart us up with colourful eyeshadows and pink chapsticks. How cute! Well, at the end of the day, she didn't really give me a definite answer.

Lady Gaga and Her New Profession/Crazy Stunt: Hermes Birkin Re-Decorator

First it is a self-studded Hermes Birkin. Then, a "personalised" Birkin pulled off with a marker. It's a black on white. A white. Why would she go as far as ruining the legendary white Birkin to amass popularity? Like a Birkin crowded with hideous sharp metal studs aren't bad enough?

I'm not a fan. Never been, never will.

Valorie: The Clutches of Anya Hindmarch

The British designer first started her career at such a young age of 19. She was inspired to enter the fashion industry by her love of polished leather handbags, most notably the duffel bag worn by most Italian chics at the time. Pursuing her study in Florence, her early products are heavily influenced by Italian design principles.

Chloé Pre-Fall 2012 RTW

The ready to wear collection can be described in three words: Sleek, minimalist, and functional. The British designer astutely combine the oversize blazer and egg-shaped herringbone jacket with clothes on the other end of the scale, high-waisted pencil skirt and skinny cigarette pants.

The Many Faces of A Céline Luggage Tote

Popularised first by the legendary Olsen twins, the Celine luggage tote has steadily gained its stardom in the fashion world. We've seen this bag being carried around in every possible celebrity's arm. The fashion conscious hopped on the bag immediately, started to follow the trend as early as seasons ago, back when Phoebe Philo had just started her Celine regime.

Since then, Celine has successfully kept its most sought-after bag in high demand. The bag is spruced up by clothing it with new colours and sizes, mini micro nano.. Name it. I personally think the pieces is really heavy for day-to-day use, despite of Phoebe's reference to it as a "casual everyday" bag.

In any case, I still think this smiley-face bag is really handsome. Here's some pictures I gathered from the internet, with the bag in its many colours and dimensions. The blue, orange, and yellow ones are exquisite!

Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Rayures: A Sweet Valentine's Treat

Valentine's day is only a month away. What's best to celebrate this romantic day other than roses, chocolates, and bags?

Louis Vuitton joins this celebration of love by creating a new finish in their popular Monogram Vernis line. It's basically a glossy Vernis combined with stripes from the Rayures pieces. Mix them up together and, voila! We present you the Monogram Vernis Rayures collection.

Redhead Beyonce: Single Ladies Parody

Somehow I found this funny video while surfing through the inet. This video is borderline hillarious and crazy! She's so good with all the dancing and the heels and I'm left to wonder if she's previously a super dancer. It would be very hard to move around like that when you're carrying a 5kg bulk inside your tummy right? Specially with that late pregnancy stage. Wow.

Enjoy, All The Pregnant Ladies.

Louis Vuitton: Monogram Vernis Alma

In March 1998, Louis Vuitton's artistic director Marc Jacobs first introduced the Monogram Vernis line, together with the company's first prêt-à-porter (ready to wear) clothing line. The flashy colours transform Louis Vuitton palette by adding a touch of jazziness and glamour in the existing collection.

Neon Trend: Bright, Bold, and Burning

What's the easiest way to make a statement with your wardrobe? Experiment with color! Bright colours get all the attention in the last fashion week for spring '12 collection, and it appears that the next year's summer collection will be dominated by bright neon colours. Even so, the colours I see on the street and internet are starting to get brighter than ever.

A Pastel-ly day

Here's a picture of me with my baby Prada. As mentioned in the previous post, I love this cameo shade much. It appears like a beige from far away, but closer inspection will show an off-pinkish shade, or as my friend says, dusty pink.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Campaign: Sugar Sweet Eye Candy

Here is some arts from Louis Vuitton S/S 2012, photographed by Steven Meisel in a very pink and white ice cream-parlor style campaign. The collection is filled with pastel shades and retro mood, bringing us back to the times where ladylike elegance is adored just as much as a sweet, youthful girly-ness. How lovely!

Prada: What is Saffiano Leather?

I recently took a new obsession on this particular bag, Prada saffiano lux tote. Three words: Classic, timeless, elegant.

What Is Coated Canvas?

A followup of my previous post, I forgot to mention what a coated canvas is. It is basically as what the name implies, canvas (or fabric) coated with plastic PVC (polyvinylchloride) or some other varnish-like materials. This provides more durability and scratch resistance.,

Louis Vuitton offers a wide selection of these bags, be it monogram or damier. In monogram canvas, they use vachetta for the leather part of the bags (handles, leather trims). This untreated leather is very sensitive to moisture and will age naturally over time, evident by the patina that you won't miss to see. Water droplets and natural skin oil may stain vachetta, so pay attention to your LV bag handles. If you're like me and hate the colour changes, there are chemical sprays that can help to slow down the process of the patina, which enables vachetta to age more evenly.

Top Reasons of Getting A Coated Canvas Bag

My first coated canvas bag was Louis Vuitton Hampstead in damier ebene. Named after a rich London suburban area, the bag definitely stirs the heart of many.

Back then in my early university years, I was totally oblivious to luxury handbags and I didn't know what a Louis Vuitton is. I vividly remember the first time I saw a girl carrying a damier Neverfull bag in uni. This chic chocolate version of Neverfull was released sometime in 2008, in my second year of uni. I immediately took notice of the lady and stalked her for some thrilling couple of minutes until a sudden realisation hits me. I nearly stared my eyes out at her (and her bag), I am madly in love with damier, and I want one of those!

Louis Vuitton: An Elegant Cirrus

Who doesn't love Mahina leather?

The Cirrus is unbelievably gorgeous! I stumbled on this bag through a discussion thread in tPF and fell in love at the first sight. There are two sizes PM and MM, both are top handle. I personally prefer PM since seeing the MM in real life makes me realise how petite my build is (the bag is HUGE).

The Louis Vuitton site offers 6 different colour options.

YSL Arty Ring

Infamous in the blogger world, this particular type of YSL Arty ring has become a niche. It is indeed a very beautiful artistic piece. A statement jewellery which transforms even the most casual look to be outstanding. Price ranges from USD 200 to 250, depending on where you consider to purchase the ring.

The ring initially comes gold plated but it is now available in silver style as well. Here is some pictures of this handsome ring in action!

Hermes: A Short History

The company has the most distinctive orange colour signatures in packaging boxes. Those in the know, sigh for it. And those people range extensively from a British queen to a Parisian housewife, even a freshgrad like me! *cough*.

"Air-mez"— the messenger god with winged sandals. Mischievous, witty, and ingenious Hermès. First established by the Frenchman Thierry Hermès in 1837, the leather houseshop has embossed its name into fashion industry for eternity. Who can ever predict that a single orphan with the love of perfection may build a company that lasts for 6 generations and a worldwide chain?

DIY: Hermes Kelly Paper Bag

A follow-up from the previous post. This is the blueprint used by the artisan, intended originally for making amusing Kelly papercrafts. Click the picture to get the pdf, and just print it out in its original size.

Hermes: Real or Fake Kelly?

Found this interesting video while surfing through PurseBlog. It's funny how the artisan can translate the semi-blueprint provided in Hermès website into a leather work. However, regardless of her artistic talent, casual streetwalker can still differentiate the authentic and the fake piece. But I think it's important to bear in mind that this might be the artisan's first attempt, and hence the underrated result. Who knows what may come with practice..

Which Mulberry?

I'm definitely a newcomer in terms of Mulberry. For example, I've been wanting one for quite a few months now but still haven't been able to come to a decision of which bag I should get. At first, I'm hugely attracted to the Alexa bag. I know it's been around long enough but I swear to God I only start to notice this bag on the street this past few months. Considering its first release in early 2010, I'm late by 2 years!

First Love

After months of reading and seeing and, *cough* following people's blogs and lookbooks.. Finally!
I even stumbled on this funny article How to Become A Star Style Blogger. You should definitely read it, it's hillarious! Let's see if this blog can follow through all the steps advised by the author *wink*

The blog is inspired by my overflowing joy during Christmas season, specially from the gifts! Okay I know it's New Year already, but hey the festivity is still around. The sale is massive and it's everywhere. Now that Christmas and NY shopping is over, I have yet to make a 2012 resolution. Finding a decent working experience is in top priority. Second is saving up some more $$ by spending more $$ on quality goods. Third is increasing knowledge of.. the world, in general. And the list will keep growing.

Have you completed your NY resolution? Share it with me!
